Jeanine Mason

Although Mason was born in Miami, Florida, she grew up in a dance-oriented family in Pinecrest, Florida. Mason began her dance training at the age of three in ballet and flamenco, and went on to study jazz, acrobatics, hip-hop, modern, and contemporary dance. However, Mason had to go through four different dance studios before she finally found one that worked for her. Mason later stated that she “…couldn’t find a teacher to work with [her] because [she] was just that bad.” Yet when she was nine years old, Mason found a mentor in Amanda Tae, the owner of Focal Point Dance Studios, who was impressed by the amount of “discipline and drive” Mason exhibited during the time she studied in Tae’s studio. Meanwhile, Mason studied musical theatre in her high school, Ransom Everglades School, and helped choreograph a school production of Thoroughly Modern Millie. In the Spring of 2010, Mason will attend University of California, Los Angeles, studying journalism, though Mason also intends to pursue both dance and acting, which are among her passions.

So You Think You Can Dance

At the age of 18, Mason competed on the fifth season of the show So You Think You Can Dance, becoming the overall winner over fellow final contestants Brandon Bryant, Kayla Radomski, and Evan Kasprzak. For the first five weeks of the competition (Top 20 to Top 12), Mason was partnered with Phillip Chbeeb. During the show’s sixth week (Top 10), Mason danced a contemporary number choreographed by Travis Wall and was partnered with Jason Glover. Later, Mason was also partnered with Brandon Bryant, Ade Obayomi, Evan Kasprzak, and Kayla Radomski. Mason was consistently praised for her strong and versatile performances.

During the fall of 2009, Mason toured the United States with the top twelve dancers of the So You Think You Can Dance competition.

It has utilized many Japanese cultural icons, figures, styles, and legends to great effects. The wildly popular Japanese fusion suggests that there has always been a thirst for the “oriental mystique” in the west. With 5000 years of history, China is rich with cultural mystique, ancient heroes, and romantic mythology. However, the West has yet to experience the irresistible essence of true Chinese culture. Our goal is to get you in touch with the “essence of the East” through a new trend of “fusion fashion”.

Therefore, Akufuncture wants to spark your desire to explore the essence of the orient while strutting avant-garde fashion. Our product descriptions include a short background of the artistic style and mythical figures that have inspired us to create this line. Hopefully, the more you read, the more you will be interested in the culture that has lasted many centuries. After two years of rigorous effort and planning, Akufuncture was finally established in December of 2008. Battle Royale 2010 is Here!

It’s Here! On Thursday May 13th, 2010, Omega Sigma Tau will host its 6th Annual Battle Royale!

This year it will be held at the Key Club, past host of diverse groups of talent, the highlights of which include Bon Jovi, ‘N Sync, Kanye West, Incubus, Tony Bennett, Prince, The Roots, Heart, and Def Leppard, so it’s no stranger to hosting the boogie.

Not sure how you’re going to get there? Doesn’t matter! Just reserve a ticket on one of our buses leaving from campus and don’t worry about your ride. It’s going to be epic!
